"It’s really rare to see red wine from Menetou-Salon, which lies next to the western edge of Sancerre and makes similar wine. This comes from the village of Morogues, which makes the best wine in the appellation. The grape is Pinot Noir, the cool climate leading to a nervier, edgier alternative to Burgundy. Light, fresh, pretty, and delicate, with aromas of redcurrant, cranberry, strawberry, and roses, this has the acidity and grip to standy up to hearty Loire food.
